Scientists detect an exotic planet in another solar system where the weather forecast is always dire - a 100 percent chance of the most outrageous rain imaginable, with droplets of scaldingly hot liquid iron. Researchers using the ESPRESSO instrument on the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope in Chile recently detected a super-heated exoplanet located 640 light years from Earth. A mysterious space rock has hit the ground in Ghaziabad, India on March 5, 2020. The meteorite went boom just before it struck the ground, causing panic among locals. On Nov. 11, 2019, while the REXIS instrument was performing detailed science observations of Bennu, it captured X-rays radiating from a point off the asteroid's edge. "Our initial checks showed no previously cataloged object in that position in space," said Branden Allen, a Harvard research scientist and student supervisor who first spotted the source in the REXIS data. The glowing object turned out to be a newly flaring black hole X-ray binary—discovered just a week earlier by Japan's MAXI telescope—designated MAXI J0637-430. A visiting mini-moon is circling Earth, according to astronomers who discovered the cosmic squatter in our planet's orbit. The tiny asteroid, dubbed 2020 CD3, was spotted by astronomers in Tucson, Arizona, on Feb. 15. The discovery is a "big deal" because, out of roughly 1 million known space rocks, this is "just the second asteroid known to orbit Earth (after 2006 RH120, which was also discovered by the Catalina Sky Survey)." Astronomers from around the world have long been fascinated by the mysterious radio signals bombarding our planet from deep in outer space, with some onlookers linking them to a possible extraterrestrial intelligence. A British space scientist says it is 'almost a racing certain' that Jupiter's moon Europa is home to alien life, but believes they are 'octopus' like creatures. Monica Grady, who is a professor of Planetary and Space Science at Liverpool Hope University, suggests the icy seas beneath Europa's surface is a prime location to find beings with similar intelligence to the marine animal. Although the idea of octopus-like creatures living on Jupiter's moon may sound far-fetched to some, it was the plot in the 2013 film 'Europe Report'. The source of Fast Radio Bursts has remained unknown since their discovery in 2007. A group of scientists have found the source of another such repeating transient event and it seems to be closest to Earth yet. The solar system is travelling through much stormier skies than we thought. Scientists have come to the conclusion that we have moved into an area of space that is different and has much higher energy level. Aliens could be more common than thought, as nine out of ten Earth-like planets that orbit two distant stars could have the right conditions for life, a study has found. Known as binary stars, these systems make up about one in two solar systems — bringing the discovery of extra-terrestrial life a step closer. These binary systems are more likely to have Earth-like worlds with a titled planetary axis that undergoes only mild changes with time — a setup agreeable to life. Data from ESA's Cluster mission has provided a recording of the eerie "song" that Earth sings when it is hit by a solar storm. The song comes from waves that are generated in the Earth's magnetic field by the collision of the storm. The storm itself is the eruption of electrically charged particles from the sun's atmosphere. When the frequencies of these magnetic waves are transformed into audible signals, they give rise to an uncanny song that might recall more the sound effects of a science fiction movie than a natural phenomenon. Everything we think we know about the shape of the universe could be wrong. At an upcoming summit in early December, NATO is expected to declare space as a "warfighting domain," partly in response to new developments in technology. If it does declare space a war zone, NATO could start using space weapons that can destroy satellites or incoming enemy missiles.  But what is this technology and how could it enable a war? What would a space war look like from Earth? Any observers on the surface would be unlikely to directly see any effects from space warfare, unless a kinetic kill actually breaks a spacecraft up—with debris lighting up as it re-enters the atmosphere. The Hubble Space Telescope has captured the best pictures yet of our newest interstellar visitor. This comet called comet 21/Borisov from outside our solar system is zooming by us at a blistering 110,000 mph (177,000 kph). Hubble caught some glam shots over the weekend from a distance of 260 million miles (420 million kilometers). It's the second known interstellar visitor to swoop through our solar system. The first identified interstellar visitor, an object officially named 'Oumuamua, swung within 24 million miles of the Sun before racing out of the solar system.
