The GitHub Arctic Code Vault is a data repository preserved in the Arctic World Archive (AWA), a very-long-term archival facility 250 meters deep in the permafrost of an Arctic mountain. The archive is located in a decommissioned coal mine in the Svalbard archipelago, closer to the North Pole than the Arctic Circle. GitHub will capture a snapshot of every active public repository on 02/02/2020 and preserve that data in the Arctic Code Vault. Servers and flash drives aren’t durable enough for this purpose, so the data is encoded on what look like old-school movie reels, each weighing a few pounds and stored in a white plastic container about the size of a pizza box. In a collaboration led by EPFL’s Blue Brain, an exciting finding has been made by scientists as they have discovered that the human brain contains structures and shapes that may have up to eleven dimensions. Scientists managed to locate structures in the human brain that display a multi-dimensional universe, revealing the very first geometric design of neural connections and how they react to different stimuli. As reported by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, military scientists have developed a “Terminator like” liquid metal that can autonomously change the structure, just like in a Hollywood movie. The scientists developed liquid metal systems for stretchable electronics – that can be bent, folded, crumpled and stretched – are major research areas towards next-generation military devices. These liquid metal networks can be strained up to 700%, autonomously respond to that strain to keep the resistance between those two states virtually the same, and still return to their original state. Earlier this week a humanoid robot called Skybot F-850 was launched into space aboard a Soyuz capsule. The Russian-built FEDOR robot is to perform two weeks of experiments aboard the ISS before returning to Earth after completion of the Soyuz MS-14 mission.
